    Description

    Job Description

    • Ensure all facility staff receive appropriate environmental training
    • Champion and support the EHSS Pillar Team, Green Team, and Sustainable Development Program
    • Environmental audit and regulatory inspection preparation
    • Participate in sustainable development initiatives
    • Track and manage annual submittals of sustainable development information (data, goals, award applications, etc.)
    • Monitor and mentor Environment, Health and Safety Pillar Team
    • Prepare and implement corrective actions from the environmental review
    • Review of environmental data/info to identify trends & potential areas for risk reduction
    • Develop environmental risk register at each site
    • Communicate potential risks to facility operations leadership and corporate environmental leadership based on evaluation of environmental data
    • Ensure corporate and regulatory required programs are being managed, supported and fulfilled in coordination with facility engineering and safety management
    • Responsible for all legal compliance requirements and reporting for municipal, provincial and federal environmental agencies
    • Is required to stay up-to-date on legislative changes pertaining to environmental initiatives and programs
    • Ensure plant capital and R&M projects are supported from an environmental perspective – identify potential environmental and sustainability impacts relative to project work
    • Define and propose potential energy reduction projects, including basic scope & cost plan for capital plan
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Basic & Preferred Qualifications

    Education/ Certifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Sciences Required
      • Engineering degree preferred
      • Biology, Chemistry or other relevant degrees considered
    • 5 – 7 years progressive experience in the environmental/engineering field

    Skills and Experience:

    • Strong leadership skills
    • Comfortable presenting to large and small groups
    • Strong influential leader, able to identify and procure necessary resources to drive daily goals and objectives.

    • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment ranges from loud (earplugs required) to no noise (office environment).
