ESTIMATOR/Bid Coordinator

provides quality solutions to public utilities, municipalities and developers, as well as to industrial, national and international manufacturing companies across the GTA.


JOB OVERVIEW
Estimators at Powerline Plus Ltd.

will digitize all components of civil and electrical construction drawings into Typical Hydro's online asset mapping and database known as GEAR, as well as be involved in activities related to civil and electrical project estimates and take-offs.

This individual must be an effective learner who is highly motivated as well as dedicated to work both independently and with direction from others.

Estimators maintains ongoing relations with co-workers and management in the Engineering & Design Department.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree, certificate or diploma from college or university.
  • Utility knowledge considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, word, bluebeam and any estimation software.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Estimator role includes but not limited to the following duties:

  • Draft estimation for overhead/underground primary/secondary conductors, transformers, switch gears, customer services, street lighting, and civil structures.
  • Follow standards, regulations, established rules, common practices, and whitespace management guidelines.
  • Input attribute data and establish various relationships (electrical connectivity, duct connectivity, and ownership relationships)
  • Preform Query Checks, Validation, and Conflict Detection/Resolution
  • Prepare / submit change requests on demand
  • Review electrical utility design drawings and takeoffs (including labour and material quantities) for submission to the client
  • Interact with the design team and members of the construction team to verify the accuracy of the takeoff and address any deficiencies.
  • Recording and comparing bids from multiple vendors and subcontractors
  • Preparing changes to costs estimates when customers change their plans, or when the availability of materials or labour changes
  • Preparing schedules for construction progress to let customers know how long projects will take
  • Visiting job sites and analyzing blueprints and plans
  • Experienced in managing tendenring website, reviewing bid documents, contracts and preparing submission documents.
  • Conduct relevant administrative tasks as required
