Position Type / Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 35 hours weekly, plus overtime as required

The role identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for improvement to work processes, procedures, and initiatives.

The role works closely, and builds positive long-term relationships, with other departments, educators, municipalities and several external stakeholders to provide the foundational data, materials, technical, and analytical support needed for decision making and strategy development in support of the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board's vision and mission.


Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • University degree in Planning, Geography, Environmental Sciences, GIS, or a related field with 5 to 7 years of related work experience. Those who don't meet the required qualifications will also be considered based on the applicants for the position
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise considerable tact, judgment, and sensitivity in dealing with internal and external clients.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to collect and interpret statistical data.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working as part of a team, and operating under tight timelines with high standards of performance.
  • Knowledge of land use and municipal planning processes and related legislation.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Education and Planning Acts is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) is an asset.
  • Ability to occasionally travel throughout the school district, including a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
