We are seeking a combined Editor/Project Manager (Math) who is excited to be part of a team that is committed to creating new, culturally relevant curriculum materials that engage today's students.

The Editorial Project Manager will use their math editorial skills and experience to help in the development of new and innovative instructional materials for Grades K-12.

They will lead math projects while working collaboratively with the rest of the Math editorial team to execute assignments to meet the quality standards for the project.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and facilitate project planning, regular meetings, reviews, support sprint and release planning with the digital team to ensure all projects are on time and on budget.
  • Monitor project workflow, ensuring milestones and due dates are met or adjusted as needed.
  • Establish a relationship with vendor(s) and oversee the quality of the works by reviewing content and providing feedback as needed.
  • Engage in all aspects of developmental editing, including providing constructive feedback to authors, rewriting and reorganizing content, researching and factchecking, copyediting and proofreading, and suggesting appropriate images/layouts to support text
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to review images and layouts and revise as necessary
  • Adhere to deadlines and follow workflow processes
  • Work with authors, consultants, and reviewers during the writing and editing stages
  • Participate in regular meetings and discussions
  • Keep abreast of curriculum changes and trends in educational publishing
  • Adapt project plans, schedules, and resource assignments as required throughout releases to respond to emerging requirements and risks.
  • Learn and follow established procedures and company policies.
  • Seek guidance or clarification from supervisor when objectives or directions are not clear
  • Provide accurate status on all assignments.
  • Initiate and participate in project meetings and discussions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years of experience of math editing experience in an educational publishing environment
  • Postsecondary degree required
  • Publishing program certificate/degree an asset
  • Expertise and confidence in mathematics pedagogy
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, including excellent grasp of grammar
  • Highly organized and motivated individual who is detailoriented
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, set priorities, and adapt to a fastpaced working environment
  • Superior time management skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to a fastpaced working environment
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, G-Suite, and Adobe Acrobat with ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Familiarity with online educational resources and tools a plus
