We are currently seeking for a Housekeeping Manager for one of our prestigious business partners, Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites Downtown Ottawa.

This key member of the team is chosen for their natural ability to take care of hotel's guests, their energy and enthusiasm.

They are responsible for the day to day and long-term operations of Housekeeping Department.


Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Hotel Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan and direct housekeeping team members to carry out their duties
  • Plan schedules for housekeeping staff
  • Hand out individual work assignments
  • Help to develop standard operating procedures/policies to ensure that the highest level of cleanliness, maintenance and aesthetic values are achieved.
  • Carry out room inspections daily to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Monitor labor daily to ensure it consistent with forecasted hours.
  • Work laterally with departments to work toward common goals that drive the quality of the hotel, both in the Front of House and Heart of House.
  • Liaise with Front Desk and engineering and other related departments to coordinate guest services and resolve emerging issues promptly.
  • Manage recruitment for the department.
  • Participate in the training of new colleagues and assist them in the learning and understanding of the standards.
  • Coach, develop & manage the performance of the Housekeeping colleagues through formal and informal ways.
  • Responsible of the budget of the Housekeeping department
  • Adhere to Health & Safety policy and ensuring safe work practices are followed at all times.
  • Monitor and revise departmental health & safety tools including WCB and WHMIS training programs, policies and practices, as needed.
  • Ensure that the administration of the Housekeeping team meets all labour standards.

Qualifications:


  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a multicultural team.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English and in French both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff respect
  • Energized by a challenge and an ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible with schedules, assignments and additional duties.
  • Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management preferred.
  • Minimum 35 years' experience at a Supervisory or Manager level within Rooms division.
