Reporting to the Director of Sales, Marketing & Product Development, the Economic Development Lead is responsible for shaping
and supporting provincial economic development plan in the context of the evolving energy landscape through targeted economic
development. This will include the creation of an economic development strategy for growth and retention of new and existing
customers of Manitoba Hydro. The Economic Development Lead will collaborate with the Stakeholder Relations Department
Manager to engage and build relationships with relevant departments within the Province of Manitoba to support the objectives
related to economic development.


_ Responsibilities:
_


  • Lead the development of a strategy to support economic development objectives of the Province of Manitoba with
consideration for implications to Manitoba Hydro's business and its customers.

  • Create economic development collateral to support attraction and retention of customers in Manitoba connecting to both the
natural gas and electric system.

  • Report on regular cadence to senior management and executive of the trends and insights of industries seeking to locate in
Manitoba and identify changes in customer behaviour as a result of the changing energy landscape.

  • Develop specific materials for pitches or engagements with potential customers in collaboration with economic developments
agencies and the province.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with various provincial government departments and other economic development
agencies to identify new programs or products for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders.

  • Establish, maintain relationships and provide advice to companies and industry associations to ascertain and classify
customer needs and wants with respect to energy use; and identify the value proposition Manitoba Hydro based on their
unique needs.

  • Prepare and make presentations; and participate in forums (including conferences and trade shows), task forces and
committees pertinent to the achievement of the Economic Development Department's goals and objectives.

  • Prepare briefing notes, conduct economic and financial analyses, technical and market research studies and electricity and
gas rate proposals regarding potential industrial development projects as well as technology commercialization projects.

  • Develop, evaluate and recommend economic development strategies that will benefit stakeholders and customers at
Manitoba Hydro.

  • Support and collaborate with the Business Development Consultant to analyze the overall performance of industrial facilities
to identify opportunities to optimize their operations in terms of more efficient production, operations, improved product quality
and reduced waste for a wide range of industrial processes.

  • Identify, assemble and participate in multidisciplinary teams on a projectspecific basis to deliver solutions to complex
customer problems.

  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of promotional materials to support the Sales, Marketing & Product

_ Qualifications:
_


  • Fouryear degree in Business, Commerce Economics (or related discipline), plus five years of related experience
OR

  • Twoyear diploma in Business (or related discipline), plus seven years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of Manitoba Hydro's infrastructure, products/services, rates and internal processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities and timelines.
  • Must be capable of attending to customer needs beyond standard working hours (sometimes on short notice) and occasional
- travel in and out of province.
  • Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.

_ Salary Range_
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $43.62-$60.22 Hourly /
$83,577.26-$115,388.78 Annually.
