This is the perfect opportunity for an innovative, creative child and youth care professional to contribute to a new service The Children, Youth & Families (CYF) portfolio within Addiction and Mental Health is leading the way in creating a new program to help meet the needs of adolescents and families experiencing significant distress.

In partnership with Children's Services and Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) leaders, we are collaborating to open a 6 bed, community-based, transitional supportive housing program that will work with families, youth and community partners to reduce time in the emergency room, improve safe and supported transitions back to parents or an alternate home environment, and address the existing gaps families experience when trying to navigate care.

As a Client Care Assistant, you will provide supportive care to youth residing in the facility.

Focusing on engagement and rapport, you will assist the service delivery team in monitoring and supporting youth in their daily activities.

Additionally, you will actively participate in recreational activities, participate in intakes and discharges, and provide your input into case management conferences.

Additional duties include supported self-administered medication, assistance with family visits, preparing meals, performing bed checks in the evenings and overnights, preparing bedrooms for admissions, and minor laundry and housekeeping duties.

The demonstrated ability to engage with youth in a respectful, empathetic, and genuine approach is vital to success, and an investment and commitment to working collaboratively with families and other stakeholders is a must.


Description:


As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions.

Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients.

As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life.

You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities.

You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).


Additional Required Qualifications:

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Suicide Prevention. Minimum of two years experience working with youth in a group care environment. Computer literacy and proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in the Health Sciences. Training and experience with Connect Care. Experience working within Children's Services and/or Family Supports for Children with Disability (FSCD) programs. Experience within addiction and/or mental health settings.
