What you will do


Do you have a passion for volunteering and delivering exceptional customer service? With our 300 plus complement of volunteers, these passionate and dedicated individuals are an integral and vital pillar supporting the FortWhyte Alive mission and mandate at all levels of the organization.


In this role, you will be responsible to the Director, Programming for the continued management of our volunteer resources, including full cycle recruitment and on-boarding, planning, developing and implementing effective volunteer management practices, ensuring volunteers are trained, mentored, evaluated and in place to support the organizational needs, as well as initiating and cultivating internal and external relationships with varied stakeholders.


What you will offer

  • Certificate in Volunteer Management
  • Post secondary education in social sciences, human resources, social work, community development or adult education.
  • Canadian Administration of Volunteer Resources (CAVR) membership and certification an asset.
  • Extensive experience managing volunteers in an organization of similar size, complexity and diversity.
  • Proven selfstarter willing to take initiative and has the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience or familiarity with
    _Better Impact Software_ is considered an asset.

Additionally you will provide:


  • Knowledge of current issues, trends and best practices related to the position.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fastpaced, multiproject environment while managing and meeting multiple deadlines;
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous and focused on details.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
