Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Coordinator, the Asset Technician is responsible for carrying out a variety of assignments including updating and reporting in work and asset management databases, and various contract administration, and assisting with building condition assessments.


As the _Asset Technician 3,_
you will:

  • Generate reports and maintain the Asset Management Database.
  • Contract Administration of various maintenance contracts including Pest Control and other maintenance contracts.
  • Assist in the performance of building condition assessments as requested by supervisor(s).
  • Manage work databases including Maximo.
  • Assist other staff and Departments.

Your education and qualifications include:


  • Successful completion of Manitoba Journeyman Carpenter Certificate with Red Seal or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Successful completion of database (MAXIMO and VFA) and excel training or the ability to obtain this training within one (1) year.
  • Successful completion of Core Pesticide 0101 and Structural Pesticide 0031, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year.
  • Three (3) years' experience in construction or building trade including experience in facility maintenance and/or construction of various building types (commercial, residential, recreational, etc.) as well as various construction methods (Historic, 1960s and current).
  • Experience with Building Condition Assessments and Asset Management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience using and maintaining a technical database such as Work or Asset Management databases.
  • Contract administration experience.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize complex tasks within tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction procedures, materials and methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, problem solving and collaboration.
  • Must have ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.
  • Must be willing and able to take and successfully complete additional training as required.

Conditions of employment:


  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License. The successful applicant will be required to provide a driver's notice in force document upon request.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all of the duties of the position, in all weather conditions. This includes, but may not be limited to climbing ladders and scaffolds, working at heights and working in confined spaces, lifting weight over 50 pounds.
