The YMCA of Oakville is the largest not-for-profit Child Care provider in Oakville.
We offer high-quality Before and After School programs for children ages 3.8 to 12 years at 40 locations across Oakville.
The role of the Enhanced Support is to ensure educators have the support they need to provide a safe and inclusive program for all children.
The main function of this role will be working with children who require varying additional support in the before and after school programs and provide hands on program support to ensure that all children with complex needs are integrated fully into our programs.

Oakville - YMCA Before and After School Programs
Schedule of Work:
Hiring for the upcoming school year beginning in September and Training commences on August 28, 2023. Part-Time position, Monday to Friday: 7:00am to 9:00am and/or 2:30pm to 6:00pm (Hours may vary, depending on school dismissal times)
Responsibilities:
- Provide class wide support to children with additional needs
- Manage behavioural incidents and implement behavioural redirection techniques
- Support children with varying needs to ensure success throughout our program, this includes but is not limited to, toileting, feeding, providing natural breaks and modifying games/activities
- Works in program with center program teams to develop and implement a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities for children ages years old
- Develops positive relationships with children, parents, school personnel and other team members
- Adhering to all YMCA Policies and Practices, Child Care & Early Years Act
- Consistently role models behaviour that aligns with our YMCA core values
Requirements:
- Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children in age 4 12 years old
- Experience working with children and their families who have developmental delays, complex needs with a focus on familycentered practices
- Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff and the general public
- Strong collaboration and team skills
- Strong conflict resolution and problemsolving skills
- Valid Standard First Aid with CPR C
- Police Security Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and Immunization Record
