About the role

  • As a Manager, Cyber Security Services, you will be accountable for ensuring CDIC's cyber security team is capable of effectively detecting, preventing, and responding to cyber security threats. The role requires a motivational team player who works alongside other stakeholders in supporting the timely delivery of cyber security projects, identifying and addressing gaps in security controls, and in engaging in the practice of continuous improvements that augment CDIC's cyber security resiliency and evolves the overall program in becoming effective in providing protection from modern threats.


The Manager of Cyber Security Services reports to the Director of Cyber Security and supports the Manager of Cyber Security Engineering.

This role can be performed from our Toronto or Ottawa offices, following a hybrid model approach. This is a permanent opportunity. #LI-Hybrid

  • Support the implementation of CDIC's Cyber Security Strategic Plan.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to direct reports and guide junior cyber security members in their careers to becoming senior and specialized members. Be a champion of continuous learning, identify and nurture talent within the team, and encourage members to go beyond the expectations of their level and expand their boundaries.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Cyber Security Engineering to ensure all cyber security team members are adequately trained and sufficiently knowledgeable in effectively supporting new technology deployments.
  • Maximize both the effectiveness and benefit from the full suite of security services provided by CDIC's Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP).
  • Manage relationship with key vendors and stakeholders such as the MSSP and Forensics partner to continuously improve CDIC's cyber security capabilities.
  • Conduct exercises to test the effectiveness of the detection, prevention, and response capabilities of both the MSSP and CDIC's cyber security team. Identify and employ tools that will accurately assess the reallife effectiveness of CDIC's technical security controls in mitigating evolving tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) employed by threat actors.
  • Identify areas where automation can programmatically detect, investigate, and remediate cyber threats. Coordinate with the MSSP and the Manager of Cyber Security Engineering in delivering such improvements.
  • Oversee and review the creation, maintenance, and understanding of security playbooks used by the cyber security teams.
  • Manage resources and reprioritize activities to support the Project Manager in ensuring ontime completion of cyber security projects. Employ project management practices for the completion of smallerscale cyber security projects.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training for effective troubleshooting of complex and multidomain technical problems by cyber security team members. Proactively identify and help resolve timeconsuming problem tickets impacting the cyber security teams.
  • Complete procurementrelated activities, including creating and evaluating Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) to acquire security hardware, software, and services.
  • Coordinate the procurement and completion of thirdparty assessment exercises, and the evaluation, assignment, and resolution of associated recommendations identified in assessments such as penetration testing and maturity assessments.
  • Provide expertise to external teams within the division to support the modernization of IT and security best practices in adopting cloud native technologies.
  • Promote and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the team and organization to increase organizational maturity and reduce risk.
  • Carry out certain responsibilities of the Manager of Cyber Security Engineering role if they are absent for an extended duration.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or Cyber Security.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in cyber security roles, and at least 3 years experience leading a team of information security professionals.
  • Certification as a CISSP, or CCSP, or CISM is
