National Internal Controls Support Centre Manager


What is the Opportunity?


The RBC Dominion Securities Internal Controls and Due Diligence Group located in Head Office is looking for a National Internal Controls Support Centre Manager to join their team and manage the Internal Controls Support Centre (ICSC).

You will provide superior service along with administrative and operational support to DS Branches and employees.

You will oversee the management of daily cash management activities for DS Branches in accordance with Internal Controls policies and procedures.


What will you do?
Branch Support & Risk Management

  • Manage and provide leadership to the Internal Controls Support Centre by leading a team of regional cash managers in the review and approval of various branch transactions, including centralized EFTs.
  • Perform first level review of exception requests from a riskbased perspective.
  • Investigate and resolve inquiries and escalations and engage the Branch Management team as required.
  • Initiate and contribute to strategic discussions and planning in the development and expansion of the Internal Control Support Centre team (ICSC)
  • Work closely with internal Head Office partners (i.e., compliance, centres of excellence, Estates & Trusts, etc.) while analyzing and identifying trends for enhanced due diligence.
  • Responsible for analyzing, tracking, and reporting daily cash activity trends and volumes while identifying areas for improvement and acknowledging areas of strength.
  • Participate in regional or national training sessions, conferences, and valueadd calls to communicate and promote the growth of the ICSC.
  • Work closely with the DS Branch Operations Managers and Branch Directors on change adoption, any areas for improvement and other internal controls objectives.
  • Communicate and escalate any concerns to the Branch Management team or appropriate Head Office partners as required.
  • Assist the Internal Controls Group with ensuring that internal policies and procedures are distributed, understood, and complied with.
  • Be responsible for Internal Controls Support Centre technology initiatives. Coordinate new IT orders and access requests. Be the inbranch contact for technology issues.
People Management/Human Resources and Leadership

  • This role will have people management responsibility for the Internal Controls Support Centre. These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, coaching, development, performance management, employee recognition, recruitment, and termination of support staff. Etc.
  • Coordinate and oversee ongoing training initiatives for staff including impacting adoption of firm strategic initiatives and new technology rollouts/enhancements
  • Responsibility over HR administration, including payroll, new employee onboarding, vacation/absence management, etc.
  • Will have support staff as direct reports

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have

  • 35 years RBC Dominion Securities Retail Branch experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to problem solve in a time sensitive manner
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A professional approach to all situations to create a positive working environment
  • Ability to complete duties independently seeking out own answers and solutions
Nice-to-have

  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and Conduct & Practices Handbook (CPH) is an asset
  • Knowledge of RBC Dominion Securities' systems and procedures, an asset
  • Experience in the securities industry is an asset
  • French language skills
  • Experience in people management
