Primary Duties


The Quality Management Coordinator is responsible for ensuring conformance with CSA Standard Z662 requirements through the ongoing development and maintenance of the SOPs, procedural forms, and DSIMP documents.

The incumbent further develops and maintains quality management standards, standard operating procedures, and customer forms for the Gas Operations department.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all DSIMP controlled policies, procedures and documentation are reviewed, and revisions identified to ensure conformance with the CSA Z662
  • Develop new policies and procedures as required.
  • Provide communication and education to employees regarding updated QMS and regulatory documents.
  • Train employees on the usage of data and recording systems, digital rounds, and document retrieval.
  • Complete annual compliance activities on behalf of Utilities Kingston including risk assessments, emergency training, and other DSIMP requirements.
  • Develop and maintain department SharePoint site to provide staff with required tools and documents to complete field data collection related activities, assign work orders, and other items as required.
  • Communicate with auditing authorities including the TSSA.
  • Educate and prepare operating staff for TSSA audits (both Contractor and Distributor audits)
  • Aid with various projects and investigations for Natural Gas Operations Department and Natural gas Engineering Group

Skills and Abilities:

  • Intermediate MS office and SharePoint skills
  • Advanced administration and organization skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of working with CSA standards, Codes, and technical guidelines

Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge of the DSIMP and CSA Z66
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Natural Gas Distribution regulations, standards and legislation
  • Advanced knowledge of Utilities Kingston's Natural Gas Distribution system and stations
  • Advanced knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individuals, the organization, and operational requirements.

Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required

  • Post Secondary education in engineering, engineering technology diploma, or combination of relevant knowledge and experience.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or P. Eng. an Asset
  • GUT1 or G1/G2/G3 certification an asset
  • Gas Pipeline Inspector certification is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Quality Management Systems

Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment

  • Class G drivers' license required
  • Criminal record check satisfactory to Utilities Kingston.
