Material Handler - Production Control

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Completes start of shift inspections of forklift assigned, dock doors and garbage/recycling compactor.
  • Unloads live and/or dead freight from the trailer after confirming that truck wheels are properly chocked. Ensures that the appropriate documents are signed, copied and given to the appropriate personnel.
  • Loads live and/or dead freight in the truck. If loading live orders, verifies against the forklift sheet they are loading the correct amount of freight. Ensures that the appropriate documents are signed, copied and given to the appropriate personnel.
  • Potential to unload steel coils from the delivery truck after confirming that truck wheels are properly chalked. Ensures that the coil receipt documents are forwarded to the appropriate personnel.
  • Potential to load the empty coil carrier racks onto the truck's deck and co-signs with the driver the packing list for number of carrier racks being returned, also noting if there are any coil returns loaded on the truck. Copy of completed paperwork is to be handed in to the front office.
  • Ensures the shipping board is concurrent - Updates as required. Ensures the forklift sheet is filled out and accurate.
  • Responsible for moving staged customer orders to the shipping lanes with precision.
  • Ensures manufacturing has a sufficient flow of totes to support production, as well as ensuring PC has a sufficient flow of totes, skids and lids to support customer order preparation activities.

  • Will assist in ensuring the material staging areas both inside and out are kept in an acceptable manner.
  • Receives totes according to standard operating procedure. Must ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Coordinates any customer sorts with Quality dept.
  • Receives small orders from various third party customers. Signs and dates all paperwork.
  • Responsible for shipping small orders from small order shelf and updating small order board. Not all orders will be on forklift sheet.
  • Will prepare (pack) surface treatment supplier shipments according to paperwork provided. Will complete paperwork accurately and will return to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensures all surface treatment supplier parts produced by manufacturing that need to go into their location in the racking is done correctly and safely.
  • Will complete the build area audit check sheet after each pack.
  • Responsible for loading all freight onto the trailer staged in the dock.
  • Responsible for ensuring all tools are returned to their location and will report any loss, damage or defective tools immediately.
  • Responsible for collecting, auditing and returning all internal kanbans into their respective cubbies in the surface treatment supplier receive area.
  • Responsible for managing (completing/maintaining visual inventory list, keeping area neat/tidy, putting over flow away following FIFO, etc.) QA overflow and FG overflow parts from surface treatment suppliers.
  • Will receive parts according to paperwork provided and will complete said paperwork accurately and will return to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensures there is a consistent flow of parts to Quality, finished goods and WIP to prevent shortages.
  • Will deliver components to manufacturing as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Previous experience on midnight shift an asset.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift.
  • Previous work in a warehouse setting an asset.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Commitment, adaptability, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work with mínimal Supervision.

SCHEDULE:


  • Full-Time, Midnight Shift, Sunday to Thursday
