$ $41.51 per hour

This position is attached to Youth Addictions Programs and its partnership with the Matawa Education and Care Centre.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the addiction counselor will provide addiction and mental health services to students affiliated with Matawa Education and Care Centre.


Services will include:
screening, assessment, consultation, counselling, referral, discharge planning and follow up services for program clients as required.

The role will also include collaborating with community partners, families and colleagues with regards to the client's mental health and addiction needs.


Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent from an accredited University
  • Registration with affiliated college
  • At least 4 years experience with mental health and/or addictions
  • Knowledge of the range of theories applicable to the mental health and addictions field and experience in working with community partners
  • Experience with interdisciplinary biopsychosocial model of care
  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous Culture and Northern communities
  • Demonstrated understanding and training in trauma, crisis intervention models is an asset
  • A valid Ontario Driver's Licence, access to a reliable vehicle & adequate insurance is required
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
