Responsibilities:


  • This role is focused on research and monitoring, providing support to the entire External Affairs Canada team, as well as Enbridge Business Units, project teams and the rest of Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability (PACS) with specific focus on supporting team in coordination with business development in new ventures
  • This person is expected to be able to manage several files at once, analyze multiple public policy perspectives, and educate internal clients on the specifics of policy implications for Enbridge
  • Support engagement with Canada's federal and provincial governments and will support the efforts of the Public Policy Working Group
  • Work closely with federal and provincial Government Affairs as well as Industry Affairs to ensure alignment and strategic positioning where possible across the enterprise
  • Responsible for maintaining a weekly report on Government activities and track all issues and policies that impact Enbridge corporate interests
  • Work closely with the External Affairs Canada team in coordinating the public policy and government relations activities associated with Enbridge's business development teams in pursuing new ventures such as CCUS, Hydrogen and Renewable Natural Gas
Specific Accountabilities

  • Work closely with External Affairs teams in Canada and the United States to ensure alignment on issues and execution of interrelated advocacy strategies to advance Enbridge interests and projects
  • Provides Government Relations support to internal Enbridge PACS colleagues active in projects or issues as well as to all Enbridge Business Units
  • Support the development of company positions on key public policy issues which impact the business environment in which Enbridge operates
  • Drafting background briefs on key government and regulatory initiatives / programs / policies / announcements for internal consideration and action
  • Manage logistics around engagement in support of External Affairs teammates
  • Contributing to Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability (PACS)
  • Canadian Government Affairs team annual and project specific strategic and tactical plans so that they reflect those policies issues in which the company is advocating Lead coordination between the Canada and United States External Affairs teams on new ventures public policy and government relations

Other Accountabilities:

  • Support the maintenance of a Weekly Report on activities of the Government along with input from the External Affairs Canada team
  • Develop key messages on issues that impact Enbridge and related to the federal and provincial government's
  • Preparing briefing notes for senior leaders for meetings with key government officials
  • Develop relationships with government officials and especially their staff/committee staff and regulators, in order to effectively understand their positions on public policy issues and to effectively articulate the objectives of Enbridge in this respect
  • Accountable for monitoring, tracking and reporting on federal and provincial government activities along with the rest of the External Affairs team
  • Lead in the research and associated impact analysis at the policy, legislative and regulatory levels of the issues impacting Enbridge.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to internal stakeholders and management
  • Other responsibilities include support for broader public and government relations activities; support for strategic message development; support for project strategies development; external relations; and, internal support to the Director, External Affairs, VP Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability, and senior leadership team.
Scope

  • This role is responsible for monitoring provincial and federal governments and their evolving policy agendas for potential impacts on Enbridge, as well as working with colleagues to coordinate a weekly catalogue of issues that could impact Enbridge.
  • Primary point of contact for business development teams working in new ventures to want to access broad public policy and government relations teams and serve as a central coordinating function for PACS support in these teams
  • The Issues Management work is central to the efficient operations of the External Affairs team, it organizes and prioritizes the team
