Hiring Unit:

The ELATE (Enhancing Learning and Teaching in Engineering) initiative at the Faculty of Engineering has a broad mandate to support and enhance teaching and learning.

Its mission is to foster learning communities comprising of undergraduate and graduate students, teaching assistants, and academic and non-academic staff with the objective of enhancing and promoting excellence in the learning and teaching experience in the Faculty of Engineering.

Position Summary:

Primary Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Associate Director (Academic Programs), the Audio/Visual Assistant B will:

Read engineering education scripts on-camera for instructional videos
Effectively communicate complex concepts or instructions concisely and engagingly
Narrate engineering education scripts for audio recordings
Records and verifies content
Maintains work area
Other related duties as needed

McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.

The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 4.

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience:

High school diploma

Other Qualifying Skills & Abilities:

Strong public speaking and nonverbal communication skills (such as body language, facial expressions, and gestures)
Engaging and clear voice with excellent pronunciation, diction, and vocal control
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Openness to direction and feedback
Ability to work with a flexible schedule

Hourly Salary:
$20/hr

Hours per Week:
Estimated 5 hours per week
