"JOB INFORMATION:
- This position is required to work night shift (12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.) with Wednesday and Thursday off days.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Performing routine vehicle dispatching and yard control operation work at a subway carhouse location
- Completing vehicle dispatch lists, arranging vehicles in the carhouse or yard according to service requirements
- Assigning vehicles to Carhouse Operators for the buildup of service, movement to storage, cleaning, inspection and repair areas, etc.
- Reporting on the availability of vehicles for service and/or changeoffs
- Operating the yard control board to set track switches and signals thereby ensuring the safe movement of vehicles in the yard area and to and from the service line
- Utilizing the Subway Maintenance System (SMS) in order to maintain and extract records concerning vehicles, units, defects, labour hours and records concerning trouble calls, power failures and other recording functions, as required
- Treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within your area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a serviceprovider and an employer.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Partial completion of highschool, or its equivalent through practical experience demonstrated by an ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Must have a valid, nonprobationary Province of Ontario driver's licence, class "G" or better
- Approximately 1 year of practical experience in an environment where rail vehicles are prepared for service including the buildup/breakdown of trains, track switching, etc.
- Must successfully complete TTC inhouse training programs for Subway Rule Book certification, rail vehicle operation certification and yard control board certification (pertinent to the assigned location)
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
If you do not currently hold a designated position, you will be required to pass a drug test as part of the certification process.
