Career Trek is looking for a committed and energetic individual who is passionate about empowering children and youth to achieve their full educational, career and life potential.

As part of the program delivery team, the Team Coordinator will ensure the safe, engaging, and effective delivery of Career Trek programs.

Reporting to the Manager, Youth Initiatives, the Team Coordinator practices and role-models Career Trek's core values of Equity, Inclusion & Belonging; Respect; Balance & Wellness; Truth & Reconciliation; and Caring in all aspects of their work.


The Team Coordinator will provide supervision and guidance to a group of high school-aged youth for the duration of each program, which includes the facilitation of virtual and/or in-person activities.

The Team Coordinator is expected to co-facilitate workshops with an Instructor/Facilitator, oversee the work of the Instructor/Facilitator and, for the CRAVE project, guide the youth through the creation of a community service project plan (including timeline, tasks involved, research, budget, and presentation).


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that a supportive and safe environment exists for all participants, volunteers, and staff
  • Review and prepare for each lesson and activity
  • Supervise, facilitate, support, and coordinate the group throughout the projects
  • Engage and motivate participants, by
  • Leading discussions of the lesson materials
  • Responding to participants' comments and questions
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Career Trek staff, volunteers, and
community partners

  • Attend all mandatory training and professional development sessions
  • Attend meetings, as needed
  • Ensure safety standards are in place and followed consistently to meet organizational guidelines
  • Model and encourage professional conduct and a strong work ethic to deliver the highest quality of service possible
  • Communicate with Program Management and Inclusive Learning & Resource Development staff to provide feedback on lessons and activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Requirements:


  • Postsecondary education (in process or completed)
  • First Aid CPR (level C) certification
  • Flexible and effective communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and video conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, and be able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Provide criminal record and child abuse registry checks
  • Ability to speak in front of a group

Assets:


  • Experience working with youth facing barriers (real or perceived)
  • Experience with community service programs
  • Knowledge of project planning
  • Experience with group facilitation
  • Graduate of Career Trek or previous programming experience
  • Knowledge of Indigenous worldviews, teachings, language, or landbased education
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by newcomers
  • An understanding of Canada's history and relationship with Indigenous Nations and a commitment to ongoing learning in the space of truth and reconciliation
  • Familiar with youth EAL learning

Working Conditions:


  • Work will be in person in accordance with safety protocols and guidelines laid out by public health and community officials
  • Training and ongoing support will be provided
  • Evening and weekend work is required
