Residential - Youth Worker (Ft) - Markham, Canada - 360°kids
Description
The 360°kids' youth residence is a voluntary program that offers a combination of housing and support for youth, primarily 16-19 years of age, who are facing a housing crisis.
Both residences provide a home for youth while they navigate the challenges common to adolescents or work towards living independently.
The Youth Worker will provide client-centered, therapeutic support to all clients in our Residential program.Duties will include:
- Provide case management support and informal counseling to program participants to assist them in achieving their goals.
- Act by CFSA and 360°kids' policies and procedures.
- Oversee the operations of the Residence such as monitoring health and safety, implementing house rules, policies, and procedures, responding to crises, and other duties as required.
- Create and maintain a clean and welcoming environment for youth in care.
- Facilitate regular life skill programming that will build on the youth's skills and prepare them for independence.
- Intake and discharge planning.
- Daily documentation such as case note documentation, report writing, and various other administrative duties as needed.
- Provide a therapeutic, safe, and welcoming environment within the Residence
- Assist youth to access various community programs regarding school, health, housing, employment, etc.
- Advocate on the youth's behalf and act as a positive role model for the youth.
- Maintain positive relationships and interact with various community partners including school boards, police services, child welfare agencies, neighbors, etc. in a professional and respectful manner.
- Positively contribute to 360°kids as an organization.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
- CYW Degree/Diploma or Post-Secondary education in a Human Service related field or the equivalent of combined education and experience working with youth.
- Previous experience working with streetinvolved youth is a must.
- Demonstrated clientfocused case management skills and role modeling.
- Experience working in crisis environments and with youth who have experienced trauma is an asset.
- Must have: Clean Child Welfare check, Current first aid/CPR certification, current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check). A car and a valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and$2 million liability insurance and assets.
