Reporting to the Executive Director, Innovation and Digital Experience, the Project Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective management and implementation of projects and related activities, for projects within the assigned portfolio including but not limited to those under the purview of Georgian College's Employee Experience engagement, and Strong Foundations strategy


This includes:

outreach to businesses and partners, liaison with faculty and staff for project development, proposal development, preparation of funding and resource requests, project planning and execution, oversight of project progress, resource planning and scheduling, quality assurance, and client and supplier relationship management.


The incumbent will play a key role in fostering innovation and progressing Employee Experience and Strong Foundations, from ideation to implementation and in the planning and executing of all assigned projects and management of the overall portfolio.

The incumbent also will play a key role in ensuring that project teams meet all project milestones, deliverables and budgetary requirements.

The incumbent assists with promoting an unrivaled experience culture at the college by contributing to activities such as organizing communications, publications, seminars, workshops, newsletters, etc.


Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and implement projects, and related activities, for projects within the assigned portfolio including but not limited to those under the purview of Georgian College's Employee Experience engagement, and Strong Foundations strategy
  • Defines scope and prepares project plans in partnership with project teams
  • Develop a project plan for each of the assigned projects within the portfolio, including schedule, resource requirements, and budget
  • Develops, maintains and executes short term and long range general and detailed project plans which account for inter project dependencies for projects within assigned portfolio
  • Identify and prepare submissions for project funding
  • Participates in contracting and negotiation activities
  • Manages scope and mitigates risk across projects. Monitors and mitigates the progress of projects to management and clients including creating and implementing plans of action to ensure the projects are delivered on time, within budget and with scope intact
  • Manages relationships with external consultants and implementation vendors for assigned projects
  • Manage assigned projects and overall portfolio, including identifying and forming the project team (both internal and external members), monitoring activities, and scheduling the project resources
  • Provide financial management of individual projects and portfolio
  • Ensure projects are completed in time, within budget, and with acceptable quality
  • Respond to inquiries and requests related to assigned projects
  • Liaise with faculty staff, and other resources to ensure effective and efficient execution of projects
  • Applies proven project management and change management methodologies to ensure the successful implementation, adoption, monitoring and reporting of total portfolio results
  • Research background information on projects and funding opportunities
  • Maintain portfolio and project management database
  • Gather, review, evaluate and prepare summaries of information submitted from various projects
  • Provide support to Executive Director, Innovation and Digital Experience, for reporting of metrics
  • Model and promote innovation and agile project methodologies to all project stakeholders
  • Represent Innovation and Digital Experience and the Employee Experience engagement, and Strong Foundations portfolio at events and with stakeholders, at the request of the Executive Director, Innovation and Digital Experience
  • Mentor and advise faculty and staff on project management processes and procedures, as needed
  • Prepare communications materials on projects, such as project status reports, success stories, case studies, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Successfully completed a threeyear diploma / degree in Business Administration or Project Management or an equivalent field of study.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Minimum of 7 years previous related experience leading projects as a Project Manager including project/portfolio management experience.
  • Knowledge of innovation and experience principles and practices; behaviours (acts as a model for them)
  • Knowledge of current and emerging contact centre technologies, client service best practice or customer relationship management technology, statistical analysis related to qualitative/quantitative service performance/satisfaction
