What you will do:


Reporting to the FSCS Operations Manager, Student Engagement, the Student Support Advisor is responsible for providing a comprehensive array of student support services within FSCS.

The FSCS Student Support Advisor will work with students to understand their individual needs and recommend best course of action that is supportive of student success and will enable students to meet graduation requirements.

In addition, the incumbent will guide students on academic regulations, assist with registration challenges, monitor student progress and serve as a resource for information.

Participation in School wide student support initiatives, recruitment events on and off campus and meetings with other Advisors and Program Coordinators on a regular basis is also required.

This role will primarily work out of the Lakeshore campus, however occasional travel offsite and between Humber's North campus will be required.

The Student Support Advisor will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.


What you bring to the role:

Education

  • Threeyear diploma or degree in a field related to social and community services, or Education.
  • Further education (diploma, degree, graduate certificate) in academic advising or career coaching would be considered an asset

Experience/Skills

  • A minimum of three years' experience assessing and advising clients in an educational or social and community services environment is required;
  • Three years of practical related experience in academic and/or career advising but also including: use of CRM or client management system, collecting and maintaining a database, use of tools/assessments, working with diverse populations, and utilizing digital media platforms for student/client engagement and communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
  • The ability to work under pressure with mínimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, exercise good judgement, work in a team environment, and resolve conflicts;
