Sterling Crane is looking to fill the position of Payroll Administrator based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Manager, North America, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for the timely processing of full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees in both Canada and the U.S.

with our corresponding payroll team members. This position will maintain payroll compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Responsibilities:


  • Fullcycle payroll including but not limited to the following: Responsible for preparing and processing weekly and semimonthly payroll for Union and Non-Union Hourly employees.
  • Ensure that the calculation of earnings and deductions are accurate and completed in a timely manner, and is in compliance with Federal, State, Provincial and local laws for our Canada and U.S. employees.
  • Process payroll information associated with newly hired employees, terminated employees, wage verification, withholding allowances, pay rate changes, status changes, benefit deductions, payroll garnishments and direct deposits. Verify Pre-Tax as well as posttax deductions as prescribed by Company Benefit Policies for Sterling Crane Canada and Sterling Crane LLC.
  • Review, calculate and process payroll information associated with newly hired employees, terminated employees, wage verification, withholding allowances, pay rate changes, status changes, benefit deductions, payroll garnishments and direct deposits. Verify Pre-Tax as well as posttax deductions as prescribed by Company Benefit Policies.
  • Manage employee files (active and inactive) in Workday.
  • Generate and provide adhoc reports as requested by the Payroll Manager.
  • Perform assorted non payroll related tasks that include account reconciliations and various month end tasks.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a payroll position and started or willing to start PCP program.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft office, specifically in Excel.
  • Experience with ADP and Workday would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in unionized payroll environments is considered an asset.
