JOB SUMMARY

  • Coordinate during shifts between Front Desk, Sales and Bistro to assist with areas as required
  • Shifts will consist of morning, afternoon, midday and weekends that will coordinate with the Sales tasks and front desk duties
  • Complete or assist with various aspects of preevent, main even and postevent details; communicate with our external partners to ensure a smooth event
  • To work with the Director of Sales & Marketing to be a point of contact for incoming sales calls, and to respond in a quick, timely and professional manner
  • Conducting sitetours of the hotel with clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the company, external organizations, and suppliers
  • Resourceful with ability to pay close attention to detail, prioritize tasks, work under pressure to meet deadlines and work under mínimal supervision
  • To work with the groups and to assist in overall efforts through effective oral and written communication in meeting our clients and guest needs
  • Keep up to date with current travel industry news to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies
  • Maintain the sales files under direction of Director of Sales & Marketing to ensure a proper flow of information within the hotel
  • Follows up on progress of groups booked, such as room pickup, rooming lists, and cutoff dates with the Reservation to ensure maximum occupancy on a weekly basis
  • Learn and use Sales CRM/Marriott platforms as they relate to sales processes and understand the hotel sales strategies
  • Work with the Food & Beverage department to ensure functions are executed smoothly
  • Assist with social media postings to promote the hotel and its events on all platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Be prepared for, participate in and report as necessary in all internal meetings, conference calls, reporting, planning, training and other communications as required
  • Work diligently to complete assigned tasks and responsibilities as needed
  • Follows all brand standards as outlined by Marriott
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate different shifts, before/after hour events and travel as required by Marriott
  • Follows all policies and procedures outlined by Burloak Hospitality Management Ltd. which operates the Courtyard by Marriott Burlington
  • Perform any reasonable requests as assigned or directed by management
  • Complete ongoing Marriott standard training as required

JOB REQUIREMNTS

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in the Sales/Catering/Guest Service Departments of a focused service hotel
  • Certificate / Degree in Business or Hospitality Management an asset
  • Previous Marriott brand experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable about social media platforms and their functionality
  • Proficient in English language, both written and oral
  • Excellent prioritization, organizational, time management and problemsolving skills
  • Enthusiastic and selfstarting personality with an even disposition
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the company, external organizations and suppliers
  • Resourceful with ability to pay close attention to detail, prioritize tasks, work under pressure to meet deadlines and work under mínimal supervision
  • Experience/knowledge within the GTA/Southwestern Ontario market is an asset
  • Must already be legally permitted to work in Canada
