Inspection & Maintenance Technician based at our Pickering location. Reporting to the Managers of the Advanced Inspection and Maintenance (AIM), Balance of Plant Department, the Inspection & Maintenance Technicians are accountable and responsible for performing non-destructive examinations (NDE) and maintenance of equipment and facilities. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform nondestructive examinations (NDE) using, ultrasonic, eddy current, surface, radiography, optical/visual or other methods.
  • Perform inspection using NDE techniques, of various pressure boundary components, welds and supports, lifting equipment and other equipment.
  • Follow procedures and/or techniques necessary to outline the activities or steps required in:
  • The performance of specific NDE and/or maintenance activities.
  • The operation and calibration of equipment.
  • The mobilization, demobilization, and maintenance of NDE inspection equipment including NDE tool delivery systems.
  • The operation and maintenance of complex electromechanical equipment.
  • Perform maintenance on nuclear components including steam generator and heat exchanger tube plugging, removal and staking.
  • Perform NDE inspections on Reactor Fuel Channels
  • Specify or verify the applicable code or standard requirements for materials. Monitor welding activities and the welding records.
  • Perform mechanical testing and NDE of welding and flared tube fittings, the evaluation of results of such examination, drawing interpretation, code interpretation, report writing.
  • Perform Steam Generator/Heat exchanger Eddy Current & TRUSTIE Acquisition and analysis
  • Participate in training programs.
  • Maintain contact and working relationship with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform functions related to the work group (group communications, procedure writing and assessing).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of station system, work practice and procedures, codes, and regulations, and be aware of developments in the field of NDE.
  • Accountable for the health, safety and wellbeing of self and others, as per established technical/ operating procedures and standards, and includes the development of technical/operating solutions to problems.
  • Other duties as required.

EDUCATION

  • College Education
  • Welding Engineering Technician/Technologist, Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist, NDE Technician would be an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • We are seeking experienced Inspection & Maintenance Technicians with the following:
  • Successful applicants must hold a minimum of 1 Canadian General Standards Board Certification (CGSB) ticket (not including VT or XRF), and additional tickets would be an asset.
  • Experience with working with Pressure Boundary, CSA Standards and ASME Code would be an asset.
  • Experience in pipeline, nuclear, thermal plants, pressure vessels would be an asset
  • Welding, mechanical, or electrical controls background would be an asset
  • Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) qualification would be an asset.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment
  • Flexibility to work shifts
  • Travel to other OPG work locations is a core job function
  • Flexibility to work overtime
  • Welldeveloped analytical and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to prepare detailed concise technical reports
  • Good technical skills (Microsoft office).
