Course description:

(Offered in English) An exploration of expressions of gender diversity in Italian culture through time. Particular attention will be paid to issues of persecution, social struggle and activism, censorship, and marginalization of LGBTQ+ individuals and works. Texts will be available in Italian and English.

Sessional dates of appointment:
January 1, 2024 to April 30, 2024


Salary:

Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9,930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,326.62 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10,570.02 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)


Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.


Minimum qualifications:


Applicants must have completed a PhD in Italian Studies, with demonstrated knowledge in the specific area of the course, including expressions of gender diversity in Italian culture through time, with particular emphasis on contemporary literature and cinema.

(Near-)native fluency in spoken and written Italian is required.


Preferred qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university-level, is preferred.

Expertise in cinematic adaptations, various and/or multimodal artistic representations will also be considered an asset.


Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
