The Opportunity
Lacombe Regional Waste Services Commission has a Temporary full-time opportunity for a Transfer Station Operator to join our team at the Prentiss Transfer Site, working Monday to Friday, from 9am

  • 5pm. The duration of this temporary position is for approximately 6 months, with the possibility to become Permanent fulltime.

The Transfer Station Site Operator is responsible for:
 assisting, directing and educating customers in proper waste disposal methods;
 managing the burn pit and changing out the bins;
 recycling mattresses;
 maintaining the cleanliness of the site;
 conducting visual inspections of loads as needed to prevent disposal of prohibited materials;
 performing minor preventative maintenance duties, such as greasing and oiling;
 operating the scales to properly weigh vehicles etc;
 participating in workplace safety initiatives and meetings, and reporting to work fit for duty.


We're looking for an individual:

 who has the ability to communicate effectively with facility users to assure proper usage and provide assistance as required;
 who enjoys working outdoors in various weather conditions and is able to perform medium lifting and moving of objects of up to 40lbs;
 enjoys performing a variety of tasks (mowing grass, shoveling snow, assisting customers) and helping out co-workers when required (operating skid steer/tractor, changing out bins, etc.)

 who is dependable and is able to work with mínimal supervision;
 who has a minimum of a valid Class 3 Alberta Driver's License. Equipment operation experience is preferred.

A mechanical aptitude is an asset in this position. This position may also be dispatched to other transfer sites within Lacombe County to provide necessary coverage when required.

Hourly rate:
$21.27- $29.76/hour depending on experience level, + 6% vacation pay, + 5.2% stat. holiday pay.
