The Opportunity:
We are looking for someone to join our Lease Documentation team as a Manager, Lease Documentation.


What you will do:


  • Manage the Lease Documentation function for a prescribed portfolio of properties with concentration on office, industrial and retail properties, which duties comprise of:
  • Accurately drafting offers, leases, transfers and ancillary documentation from written and verbal instructions; superior drafting skills required
  • Negotiating leases and ancillary documents with brokers, tenants and counsel to ensure mínimal client exposure
  • Assist in the development of standardized lease documentation policies, procedures and documents and ensuring legal compliance through interface with internal or external legal council
  • Assist in the development of precedent stepdown language
  • Ensure effective delivery of lease documentation services through liaison with other internal departments
  • Manage client relations and retention
  • Provide due diligence and lease review services in connection with property acquisitions
  • Provide estoppel preparation in connection with property dispositions
  • Provide leasing file review and interpretation, as required
  • Draft miscellaneous legal, lease and property management related correspondence, as required
  • Liaise with Asset Management, as required
  • Liaise with property management staff, tenants, solicitors, brokers and other leasing staff, as required
  • Other duties as required

Who You Are:

-
Experience - 7+ years of related drafting experience in the field of commercial office/retail real estate. Ability to identify and analyze problems with respect to lease documentation; make informed confident recommendations; able to consider the legal, business and monetary implications of lease provisions.

Relationship Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships internally with peers and management, and externally; exercises confidentiality; displays enthusiasm; receptive to change, new ideas and opinions.

Education

  • High school diploma supplemented with postsecondary courses. A related diploma or degree would be an asset.

  • Ability to work independently and allocate one's time effectively, to work under pressure and to manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands, competing priorities, and to adapt to new ideas and constant changes; must be accurate and detailoriented; must be willing to learn and to perform in a dynamic environment
