The Opportunity:
Under the direction of the Team Lead, Internal Controls, the Financial Analyst plays a key role in ensuring the compliance and effectiveness of IWK financial policy and will work to identify policy gaps, complete testing of internal controls and make recommendations to resolve deficiencies
This role will include:
- Executing and monitoring Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) plan
- Using Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program along with other information sources to ensure financial risks are identified, assessed and mitigated
- Communicate and coordinate with both internal and external auditors
- Complete ongoing monitoring of existing internal controls over financial reporting
- Process documentation of internal controls and business processes and implementation / effectiveness testing
- Execution of process and control testing plans, including sample testing and identification and root cause analysis of deficiencies and gaps
- Monitoring of certain legislative compliance activities, including Executive Travel and Hospitality reporting, certificate compliance reporting and other compliance activities.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday; 75 hours bi-weekly
Your Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration / Commerce required.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years' experience in financial administration.
- Experience in a healthcare/clinical setting is considered an asset.
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education, certification and related experience may be considered.
- Experience in internal controls considered an asset
- Excellent communication, problem solving and decisionmaking skills
- Indepth understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
- Knowledge of financial accounting and computing (such as SAP) system required.
- A commitment to focusing on a culture that provides customer service above and beyond what is expected.
- Knowledge of financial accounting, SAP ERP experience considered an asset
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
