Description
Company Description

Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment.

The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level.

They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more.

Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.

Job Description:

We are looking for a technical writer who can help bring Block's bitcoin mining products to market in an open and accessible way.

You will partner with our product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to build a comprehensive package of product and technical documentation on our portfolio of products.

Additionally, you will support internal process and technical documentation initiatives.

We're a startup building new products and an entirely new brand (yet-to-be named) within an established larger tech company.

So you'll have the autonomy and speed of working in a small team, with the support and resources of the Block ecosystem.

You'll be connected to the technical writing community from other parts of the company — Square, Cash App, Spiral, and Tidal — so you'll have a chance to lean on experienced writers as sounding boards, without losing the ability to move quickly and have autonomy.

This remote role can be based anywhere in the US or Canada and reports to the Bitcoin Mining Product Lead.

This is a unique opportunity to reinvent user experiences within a critical part of the bitcoin ecosystem. You can learn more about what we're building through our newsletter here.

You will:

  • Gather and analyze technical and product information for inclusion in product documentation
  • Help create test plans, Quality Assurance processes, and user documentation.
  • Prepare, review, revise and maintain technical documents, including team/org policies and practices, data dictionaries, KPIs and success measures, software and systems development and configuration, systems operations, work processes, playbooks, and runbooks.
  • Work with partner teams to assure the most current architecture, SOPs, checklists, etc are represented in our documents.
  • Write, format, edit, review and proof procedural and technical information for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Create and maintain a library of documentation, cataloging it for internal and external use
  • Create, publish, and maintain templates for written documentation produced by others, ensuring a consistent look and feel
  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts for knowledge sharing and document review sessions
  • Help with other writing tasks, such as copywriting, as needed by the mining team

Qualifications:

You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Technical Writer, demonstrating exceptional written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, complex efforts simultaneously and adjust to changes in direction as needed to meet our goals
  • Creative thinker with enthusiasm for cross team collaboration
  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Background in hardware and/or semiconductor products is advantageous
  • Ability to work with a team of stakeholders, understanding cultural and market differences
  • Passion for Block and desire to help bitcoin miners succeed
  • A high level of initiative and selfmotivation
