Do you like keep busy and moving? Are you helpful by nature with an eye to making things look sharp? Are you willing to pitch in when an extra set of hands is needed or when something heavy might need to be moved/lifted by a room attendant or guest? Then you will be very happy working in housekeeping where a team of friendly hard working room attendants and housepersons present each guest with a piece of "home".

In the role of


Houseperson you will:

-
Focus on Details - walk the halls assigned to you each shift to ensure the public areas are clean and tidy, caring for elevators, guestroom landings, vending areas, etc. Be sure to report anything missing or in need of repair.

Be Organized - ensure any areas assigned to you are kept stocked, clean and crisp.

Be a Team Player - help your coworkers by pitching as needed including doing some of the heavy lifting.

Be a Housekeeping Ambassador
  • Share a warm greeting and a smile with all the guests you encounter (and hopefully they will smile and say hello right back).

Be a Safety & Security Agent - follow your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures. Anticipate problems and call management as needed.


Requirements:


The main responsibilities of the Houseperson are to maintain cleanliness of public areas as well as back of the house and facilities in addition to assisting Room Attendants in maintaining clean and attractive guestrooms, while adhering to company standards.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Maintenance experience an asset
  • Long hours sometimes required.
  • Must be able to work on weekends.
  • Bilingual helpful.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:


  • Maintain Check daily assignments/daily duties.
  • Gather all cleaning supplies and return them daily.
  • Complete all assigned cleaning duties in designated areas.
  • Report any engineering problems or repairs to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
  • Return any borrowed items (i.e. irons, boards, hairdryers, etc.) to Housekeeping when removed from guestrooms.
  • Service and restock housekeeping closets. Complete closet inventory.
  • Remove gum, wall spots, and floor spots with appropriate chemicals.
  • Wipe glass, pictures, windows, and public telephone areas. Clean external ash urns.
  • Clean public restrooms and replace products. Vacuum floors in public areas.
  • Sign keys in and out.
  • Gain knowledge of all hotel facilities to answer questions from the guests.
  • Perform all other related duties as requested.
  • Must have knowledge of proper room cleaning procedures.
  • Assist Room Attendants throughout the day with housecleaning rooms when needed.
  • Assist Room Attendants by stripping any vacant and dirty rooms when necessary. Assist in Laundry.
  • Empty Housekeeping carts of dirty linen, trash, etc.
  • Assist in floor care.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures.
  • Log all calls on daily work assignment.
  • Other duties as required.
