The Department of Education and Early Childhood Education is seeking to fill a Curriculum and Assessment Consultant (Career Education Consultant) in the Senior Technology and Education Program Unit of the Learning and Outcomes Branch.

Qualifications:

Essential:


  • Bachelor of Education and extensive experience in Career Development in a K12 school setting. A combination of postsecondary education and relevant work experience may be considered
  • Extensive experience administering/coordinating career development and transition education in Manitoba Schools or other Canadian jurisdiction
  • Experience leading diverse work groups and project teams
  • Ability to build relationships, foster collaboration, and develop partnerships between various educational stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to act with diplomacy and tact
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to create and edit various documents with a high degree of accuracy
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • Excellent problemsolving skills with the ability to make sound decisions

Desired:


  • Working knowledge of one of the following programs: The Blueprint for Life/Work Designs, Take Our Kids to Work, Skills Manitoba, Safe Workers of Tomorrow
  • Knowledge of current Manitoba Technical Vocational Education programming and familiarity with current trends and issues
  • Experience working with one of the following: work placement programs, work experience, work integrated learning opportunity including the High School Apprenticeship Program

Duties:


The Learning and Outcomes Branch (LOB) articulates the K-12 English program framework that is the basis of teaching, learning and assessment in Manitoba Schools; and supports its implementation.

Reporting to the Coordinator, Senior Years Technology Education Program, this position is responsible for:

Coordinating all aspects of career development education for Manitoba K-12 schools, with particular emphasis on middle and senior years.

Ensuring an interdisciplinary approach to implementation of career development initiatives by providing consultative services to the Student Achievement and Inclusion Division.

Interpreting new government policy to schools regarding career development, Learning to Age 18 and Technical Vocational programs, and ensuring new programs are implemented efficiently and effectively.

Coordinating special projects at the request of the Assistant Deputy Minister, Student Achievement and Inclusion Division, and the Director, Learning and Outcomes Branch.

Coordinating, integration and communication activities, consulting, project management, decision making, planning, and implementation of departmental and branch initiatives.
