Fixed Term Chemical Technologist - Saint John, Canada - Irving Oil

Description

As a Fixed Term Chemical Technologist, you will be responsible for testing the raw materials and finished products at our Blending & Packaging facility. Your goal will be to work alongside our team of Chemical Technologists and assist with used oil analysis testing. This testing will include viscosities, titrations, and sample preparation. You will have the opportunity to complete pilot blends on new formulations. Your success will be determined by your proficiency in mastering proper sample handling, generating accurate data, efficiently managing time, and ensuring lab safety.

Your Responsibilities:

• Follow and adhere to all instructions, including work procedures, manufacturer operational and maintenance requirements, Standard Operating procedures and safety requirements.
• Perform routine quality control testing and evaluation of data on raw materials and finished products
• Perform analysis on used oil, including viscosity, titration, elements, and other used oil analysis testing
• Prepare and evaluate data for used oil reports and communicate results to the customer
• Perform preventative maintenance and calibrations on assigned laboratory equipment
• Be familiar with our product offerings and understanding their applications
• Provide technical support to the Sales team and directly to customers on all product offerings
• Prioritizing multiple tasks related to area of responsibility to meet timelines
• Ability to provide coverage for other technologists as required through cross-training

Your Skills:

• Good laboratory practices
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Familiar with warehouse management software or Lab Info Management Systems
• Ability to work efficiently and safely
• Excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities

Your Experience:

• Post-secondary education in Chemical Technology or a similar program
• 1 to 3 years experience in Lab Analysis & Testing
