THE OPPORTUNITY


Western Forest Products has an exciting opportunity for a
Project Manager to join either our Corporate Office based in
Vancouver, BC or Nanaimo, B.C.

With the overarching objective of Defining a Higher Standard in the planning, organization, and operation of project and portfolio services, the Project Manager, Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible to provide business analysis services throughout the enterprise.

Our Shared Services team provides services to 2000 employees in over 20 locations in Canada, the US and internationally. Bringing together individuals with diverse backgrounds, talents, and expertise, WFT Shared Services is vital to making our company stronger.


What You'll Do:

Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office within the IT Services group of Shared Services, this position is responsible for the management of assigned project from the Western IT Portfolio in all areas of the enterprise.

Overall, the Project Manager, Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for the planning and execution of projects; to follow the project management process and standards from Initiation to Project Close.

To manage stakeholders, vendors, and internal developers effectively and efficiently.

Work Environment:
This role is to be performed in person at either our Vancouver Corporate Office or Nanaimo office.


RESPONSIBILITIES


You will serve a range of different stakeholders and be responsible for building relationships and reporting on the status of projects and tasks.

Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office (PMO), you will help prioritize projects as they are requested and work to ensure your projects are running as efficiently as possible.

The Project Manager will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:


  • Provide endtoend project management; this includes developing a detailed plan, work back schedules, project estimates, status reports and continuously updating internal and external teams on progress;
  • Act as the key contact for internal stakeholders, and a conduit between stakeholders and technology team;
  • Holds project meetings to ensure projects meet deadlines and specifications. Prepares project tracking, reports, and analysis. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables;
  • Performs risk and issue tracking and reporting, status gathering, and report development;
  • Supports Agile methodology and milestone management processes for multiple projects;
  • Identify project risks and work with the Manager, PMO to identify and implement mitigating strategies as required;
  • Assists in developing business proposals and project documentation to meet executive's needs;
  • Collaborate and share learnings within the PMO and wider enterprise including contributing to the continued improvement and enhancements of the Western Planning Standard. Engage business users as appropriate to validate and refine requirements and functional solution designs;
  • Perform service delivery activities following predefined processes/procedures;
  • Provide user priority into project teams and coordinate enhancement activities;
  • Collaborate and share learnings within the PMO and wider enterprise including contributing to the continued improvement and enhancements of the Western Planning Standard.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education And Experience

  • Postsecondary degree, ideally related to Business or Management Information Systems;
  • PMP certification is preferred; PMI-ACP, CSM or similar is considered an asset;
  • PfMP or PgMP a nice to have;
  • 5+ years of experience in a related role;
  • Experience in Engineering or Construction industry is considered an asset.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

  • Strong Project Management experience with excellent business acumen;
  • Experience in creating Statements of Work, communication plans, risk plans, resource plans, project plans, and other associated project documents;
  • Knowledge in the development of project scope and structure;
  • Previous experience of managing projects using industry recognized methodologies such as PMI and/or Agile/Scrum;
  • Experience using Portfolio/ Program Management Standards defined by PMI (nice to have);
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and changing priorities;
  • Hardworking and willing to work outside normal office hours when required;
  • Requires outstanding selfmanagement, influence management, information presentation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong customer service
