OCAD U is currently seeking outstanding, creative and collaborative teachers in the following sessional opportunities/opportunity.

INDS-2017 INTERACTION EXPERIENCE/ DESIGN (0.5 Credits)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This studio course is an applied introduction to the contemporary tools, methods & languages of interaction and experience design. Through a hands-on approach, students build on human-centered design to create analog and digital interactions.

Students begin to work with user experience and interaction design tools such as analog prototyping, interface development software, and web-based coding.

Technical and computational skills will be situated within a theoretical framework drawing from contemporary critiques of computational design, digital interaction, net art, and networked art.

This course privileges experimentation as well as research through making and will be conducted through lectures, technical workshops, multi-week assignments, discussions and critiques.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Teaching and teaching-related responsibilities may include but are not limited to: course outline development, studio preparation and delivery inclusive of lectures, critiques, grading, mid-term evaluations and final evaluations/reviews, participation in Faculty and program meetings; including responsibility for health & safety and meeting academic and curricular requirements and deadlines.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • The successful applicant should have a degree in art, design, engineering, relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional/practical experience. A terminal degree in any of these areas is considered an asset. Experience teaching at the postsecondary level is considered an asset, however, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • In addition, the successful applicant should have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to convey technical aspects of interaction design to nontechnical audiences (e.g., students without prior computer programming experience);
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience in promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment for students, staff, and faculty, combined with a demonstrated ability to integrate inclusive design into studio practices;
  • A current body of work within the professional design and/or academic disciplines as it relates to the course description(s);
  • An ability to collaborate with the coinstructor in the development of course content and
  • Advanced knowledge of Interaction and Experience Design practices and processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of crosssensory and multisensory interaction design for the inclusion of diverse individuals is considered an asset.**
