Indigenous Initiatives Student Coordinator / étudiant.e pour les initiatives autochtones
Weekly Hours: 5-10 hours/week (during the academic year); 20-30 hours (during the summer).

Description de poste:
La Faculté de droit cherche à recruter deux étudiant.e.s en droit pour combler deux postes de étudiant.e pour les initiatives autochtones à temps partiel pendant le semestre d'été 2023 (avec possibilité de renouvellement pour l'année scolaire Comme étudiant.e.s, elles seront chargées d'aider au développement d'initiatives diverses autochtones à la Faculté.
La personne choisie travaillera sous la supervision de la Doyenne adjointe (vie étudiante) & Déléguée du doyen pour l'épanouissement des étudiant.e.s noir.e.s et autochtones.
Les étudiant.e.s travaillera également de concert avec l'Agente des affaires étudiant.e.s, la Directrice du Centre de développement professionnel, la Doyenne adjointe (administration et stratégie), et la sous-comité sur la Commission de la vérité et de la réconciliation de la faculté.
Heures par semaine : 5 à 10 heures par semaine (pendant l'année scolaire); 20 à 30 heures par semaine (pendant l'été)Salaire horaire : 20 $ par heure
Job Tasks - Overview
The Indigenous Initiatives Student Coordinators will assist in the following key tasks:
- Partnership development, for example:
- Building partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations, as well as organizations that serve Indigenous communities, including employers, schools, CEGEPs, and educational programs
- Meeting with stakeholders to determine the needs of Indigenous students in terms of engagement with law and pathways to postsecondary and legal education
- Development of Indigenous L.E.X. an expansion of the L.E.X.
- Developing specialized L.E.X. lesson plans that answer the needs and interests of Indigenous students, with the possibility of involvement in delivering these lesson plans
- Program development, for example:
- Developing support programming for Indigenous students in partnership with First Peoples' House team
- Developing orientation activities for Indigenous students
- Developing an Indigenous alumni network
- Resource creation, for example
- Finding employment opportunities (special programs) in the legal industry dedicated to Indigenous students
- Compiling resources to assist Indigenous students with the particular challenges they may face in their career development/job search (on campus or external)
- Communications, for example:
- Providing input on communications resources and materials (website, paper and electronic documentation, etc.)
- Providing input on and contribute to planning of events and activities
Additional required information/documents :
Preference will be given first to Indigenous Law students, then to Law or McGill students with experience working with and in Indigenous communities.
