JOB SUMMARY:
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree required in a relevant major from one of the following programs: Public Health, Health Sciences or Social Sciences with a focus on Health Promotion.
- Two to three years experience in communitybased health promotion.
- Demonstrated knowledge of public health, population health, health promotion concepts including social marketing, behaviour change theory the health status of populations, inequities in health, and the social the determinants of health and illness.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to complete program, intervention and activity level planning and implementation utilizing evidence informed public health practices
SKILLS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information for a variety of audiences
- Strong facilitation, project management, partnership/collaboration, planning, problemsolving and organizational skills
- Able to initiate connections and actively engage with vulnerable populations who have multisector complex challenges.
- Demonstrated community assessment skills
- Willingness to take initiative, and the ability to assess and initiate actions independently
- Strong group facilitation skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Knowledge and skills in the following areas: community mobilization; healthy public policy development; mass/multichannel media and communications; knowledge translation, social marketing; behaviour change; and advocacy.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must display an acceptable comfort level with various health related topics.
- Must maintain ability to travel in a timely manner to other offices, work locations or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons.
- Vaccinations as outlined in departmental policy.
- Work flexible hours as required in response to communitybased health issues
