Our Pinawa, Manitoba, location is seeking a
Site Superintendent, Operations.


This dynamic position would have you be responsible for the strategic deployment of the Operations Technicians, Building Superintendent(s) on site along with Operations Specialists and Administrative Assistants.

You would be performing operations or support tasks, supporting maintenance and decommissioning of site buildings, systems and equipment, and site and waste operations.

What will you be doing?

  • Enforcing workplace safety at all times, using eventfree tools supporting safe, compliant, timely, and costeffective Decommissioning & Demolition (D&D), Waste Management (WM) Operations, and Nuclear and Nonnuclear operations maintenance of all facilities/structures within contract scope.
  • Being accountable for the effective supervision of Operations staff and associated support staff in the Site Operations and Maintenance organization to create, improve, and foster efficient work practices in the areas of safety and prioritization of work.
  • Establishing, overseeing, and maintaining control for the work under their supervision, including proper tracking and reporting of overtime use and leave review/approvals.
  • Ensuring support and services are provided in a timely and costeffective manner to WL D&D projects, site operations/maintenance and waste operations.
  • Relaying information to the organizational leadership, including the Manager Site Operations and Maintenance, Facility Authority, and Facility Manager, as is relevant and discussing with other supervisors work that requires Operations support.
  • Implementing the final decision on allocating Operations Technicians and other Operations resources to perform the work for all activities within WR1, Shielded Facilities, Waste Management and the nonnuclear Facilities at WL when conflicts arise.
  • Ensuring documentation (e.g., work permits, procedures, work instructions), training, equipment and notifications have been completed prior to starting work activities.
  • As a labour/management team member, participate and support the Manager, Operations & Maintenance in resolving union grievances and ensuring proper union notifications are completed for externally contracted work.
  • Making recommendations for improvements to the organizational structure, any staffing issues and workflow procedures, etc.
  • Conducting the investigation and documentation of unplanned events, including preparing Impact submissions and participating in event investigations or root cause determinations, as required.
  • Identifying future resourcing needs, resourcing estimates, succession planning, performance updates, and deliverable status updates into annual Branch and Directorate business plans and monthly progress reports.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for-

  • Secondary school education and a demonstrated strong background in operations, program/project management experience and administration and/or significant applicable supervisory experience.
  • Engineering Technology and/or Red Seal Trade Qualification;
  • Eligible to obtain and hold Security clearance Level II.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant management/supervisory or project management experience.
  • Specific plant/site operations or maintenance experience is preferred.
  • A strong grounding in the technical and regulatory dimensions of conventional operations and program planning with a similar grounding in nuclear operations is a preference.
  • Good working knowledge of Canada Labour Code and safety standards.
  • Proven strong skills in management, supervisory and leadership.
  • Skills in setting appropriate personal and work priorities and directions and in individual and team performance measurement and evaluations.
  • Expertise in preparing resource and cost estimates, schedules, and progress reporting.
  • Capability to make timely decisions to maintain or improve productivity.
  • Initiative and judgement to organize and maintain the flow of work and accuracy of records.
  • Punctual, dependable and safetyminded.
  • Detailoriented aptitude with the ability to meet deadlines with accuracy.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and is accountable for accurately handling the details associated with one's work.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly for interactions with staff, Manager, Facility Authority and Facility Managers, associated project teams, internal support groups and external groups as required.
