DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The fitness coordinator will assist the Director in the daily operation of the fitness facility. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring, training, programming, equipment maintenance, promotion and scheduling. The incumbent assists the Director with adequate staffing of centre and fitness classes.

Organize and co-ordinate fitness center and student staff, including:

  • Conducting Comprehensive fitness testing for center patrons
  • Coordinates personal training programs
  • Demonstration of fitness equipment usage
  • Demonstration of stretching and exercise techniques
  • Serve as a fitness class instructor as required (approx. 1 hour per day)
  • Coordinates parttime staffing, training, monitoring and scheduling
  • Recruit, train and coordinate work of student staff, parttime trainer and fitness instructors.


Develop, co-ordinate and promote a roster of revenue generating fitness and personal training programs that are offered in the facility.

Includes hiring, scheduling instructors and providing feedback to Director for evaluation purposes.

Administrative duties to include:

  • Budgetary responsibilities
  • Recommendations of equipment purchase and maintenance, related to ongoing Evergreen Program for equipment
  • Payroll submission
  • Ensuring equipment and environment is safe for patron use.
  • Addresses patron requests, complaints, concerns and suggestions.
  • Responsible for establishment monitoring and continuance of regular maintenance, cleaning and reporting procedures to ensure safe operation of the fitness center.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A minimum of a 3-year diploma or degree in Sports Management, Phys Ed. or Kinesiology.
  • CPR/ First Aid/AED
  • Fitness Industry Certification(s) (CSEP CPT Certification, Fitness Instructor Certification) preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in customer service experience.
5. 1 year of experience leading a health and wellness or fitness-related organization.

35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon - Fri (8:30 am - 4:30 pm; one evening shift)
