Smythe LLP (Smythe) is looking for an experienced, team-orientated Insolvency Administrator to work with clients and partners to help advance the objectives of our firm.

The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a self-starter to join the Smythe team.

In this role, you'll work directly with our clients, Licensed Insolvency Trustees, and other team members to support internal and client-facing deliverables.

We are looking for someone who has the skill set of detail & accuracy, time management, and empathy.


Your day-to-day

  • Administrative support including client file maintenance, meeting regulatory filing deadlines, document management, client tax return preparation, creditor/stakeholder correspondence;
  • Working directly with clients by identifying and analyzing client needs, proposing potential solutions, and assisting the Licensed Insolvency Trustee with the preparation and closing of new business;
  • Improving internal procedures and processes by identifying opportunities and working with the team to implement and execute, with the focus on elevating the client's experience;
  • Promoting Smythe in a positive and professional manner;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in either accounting/tax, insolvency, credit counseling, financial advising, or banking associate/specialist;
  • A positive "can do" attitude and customerfocused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and sincerity;
  • Ability to work independently and the desire to go above and beyond while contributing to a team's overall success;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Fully competent with the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Experience in the insolvency industry including working with the Ascend insolvency software would be an asset;
  • Experience in a customer service/clientfacing role would be an asset;
  • Familiarity with preparing personal tax returns in TaxPrep, TurboTax, and/or Profile;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage your time and the ability to prioritize.

In addition, you will need to:

  • Be present in person at your primary office location at least four days a week;
  • Work additional hours as required.
