Manufacturing Automation Specialist - Critical Environments

  • Troubleshooting existing factory automation equipment and other machines.
  • Implementing design and program improvements on factory equipment.
  • Facilitating controller and other hardware replacement, reprogramming, and upgrades.
  • Working with the Maintenance team to determine root cause of breakdowns and implementing sustaining actions as part of The Perfect Repair.
  • Leading and assisting with designing, implementing, justifying, and commissioning new factory automation equipment.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and leading the implementation of process improvements.
  • Leading the planning, organizing, and directing of the completion of projects while ensuring they are on time, on budget, and within scope.
  • Identifying and participating in projects to correct equipment and processes that present potential safety hazards.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and approving financial justifications for capital expenditures.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives, including but not limited to 5S, SMED, line balancing, waste reduction, and Kanban.
  • Continuously learning and becoming an expert in problem solving, continuous improvement, product manufacturability and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ensuring drawing packages are designed based on criteria established by design engineering and manufacturing.
  • Providing documentation support (ECN's, work instructions, etc.) as required.
  • Lead the planning, commissioning, certification of factory associates, creation of work instructions, maintenance planning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities related to the test rig equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Diploma in Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Applicable experience considered in lieu of the above qualifications.
  • Passion and commitment to manufacturing, operations, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience and knowledge of programming and troubleshooting PLC's, HMI's, VFD's, servo drives, industrial robots, and various other industrial automation and control equipment.
  • Labview programming skills are considered an asset.
  • Experience and knowledge of sensors, switches, encoders, and various other I/O components and systems.
  • Team player with the ability to build and maintain working relationships.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with attention to detail, and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Familiarity with reading, interpreting, and creating electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience creating manufacturing drawings is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers to resolve issues and implement change.
  • Organized and taskoriented, with attention to detail and follow through.
  • Demonstration of computerbased skills: Microsoft Excel, other Microsoft, and inhouse software.
  • Strong affiliation with Price's Corporate Values.
  • Design experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with CAD, specifically SolidWorks, and Solid Edge considered an asset.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques is considered an asset.
