About this opportunity
The Sheeting/folding line Operator will be responsible for operating Baum/MBO Folding equipment and Ehret sheeting equipment.
Will be responsible for operating and maintaining finishing lines including set-up, in-line requirements, completing paperwork, assisting in material movement and preparing shipping requirements for product coming off the equipment and overseeing the sorting of mail.
What you will do
- To set up, operate and troubleshoot folding/sheeting equipment correctly and in accordance with safety standards while maintaining production standards and efficiencies;
- Ensure that each job is set up correctly as per the job docket and that all required materials are available, including docket, matrices and quality control sheet;
- Work effectively in a team oriented environment with assigned helper(s) to ensure and maintain quality, accuracy and productivity throughout the production shift;
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on the equipment, in order to keep it performing at optimal levels;
- To assist, train and share your knowledge with less experienced personnel;
- Available to work overtime as needed and perform all other duties as requested by the Manager;
- Work as part of a team, follow and adhere to Transcontinental's code of ethics and participate in the Continuous Improvements efforts;
- Fully understand and adhere to all relevant Environmental, Health and Safety, Human Resources, Quality, Security and Company policies and procedures;
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario, the Workplace Safety Insurance Act and all other applicable legislated environmental, health & safety regulations;
- Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
What you have to offer
- Postsecondary education and experience in the printing industry would be an asset;
- Two (2) years of machine operator experience preferred;
- Solid technical skills relating to the setup, troubleshooting and use of machinery/ equipment;
- Must be able to communicate effectively (verbally and orally), including the ability to read and interpret job docket information and follow verbal jobtask instructions;
- Able to multitask while maintaining quality of work;
- Able to work independently and in a team oriented environment;
- Position will involve heavy lifting, including pushing/pulling of 100+ lb paper rolls,
- Available to work overtime as required.
