About CASA


CASA Mental Health is an established non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally-safe wrap-around mental health services to Albertans and their families.

CASA provides mental health service to the missing middle - mental health treatment for diagnosed children and youth, in between prevention and promotion in primary and community care, and acute treatment in hospital.

CASA's team of mental health professionals are trauma experts committed to delivering service in collaboration with community partners.

This includes assessment and treatment for up to 4,000 children, youth and their families each year, from community outreach settings to intensive treatment programs.


About the Role
The Physician Support Specialist is responsible for assisting staff and patients to ensure quality care.

This is done by greeting patients and families as the first point of contact with CASA, confirming and maintaining patient information and supporting staff with program requirements.


The Physician Support Specialist will:


  • Create a welcoming environment through greeting guests, children, adolescents and their families in a patient, respectful and gentle manner.
  • Transfer incoming calls and take accurate telephone messages.
  • Schedule appointments through the Electronic Medical Record and confirm appointments with patients.
  • Enter and format electronicallybased medical reports and correspondence, and prepare spreadsheets and documents for review.
  • Provide timely, accurate and comprehensive medical transcriptions of records.
  • Schedule room bookings and video conference equipment.
  • Maintain confidential medical files and records.
  • Prepare intake packages and/or other health related documents.
  • Organize supplies inventory and ordering as needed.
  • Transcribe handwritten notes, electronic dictation and/or oral instructions.
  • Liase with outside agencies, clinics, pharmacies and hospitals to assist with ongoing patient care.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a Medical Office Assistant and/or Business Administration program required (or equivalent experience).
  • A Medical Transcriptionist Certification is considered an asset, or demonstrated proficiency through testing.
  • Two years related administrative experience in a medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Minimum typing of 50 words per minute with 95 per cent accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, attention to detail and initiative.

  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
  • Proof of COVID19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
