MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH FAMILY VISITOR

Full Time Permanent

Monday to Friday - 7 hours/day

Wabasca, Alberta
The Bigstone Health Commission (BHC) is seeking a Maternal Child Health Family Visitor, to join our Community Health Team.

Duties And Responsibilities:


  • Conducts primary, secondary and tertiary preventive services, provide care and support to clients, families and the community.
  • Conducts home visits to provide accurate health information and education, counseling and support to individuals and families
  • Promote awareness of various community health services programs
  • Provide preventative public health screening program under the direction of the Public Health Manager
  • Plans, coordinates, educates and contacts client's regarding community health program services
  • Community advocacy: works in collaboration with other health team members, develop partnerships with community based agencies and/or external health care providers
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Other duties as requested

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft computer programs
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to engage with high risk clients
  • Ability to speak Cree is an asset

Education and Experience:


  • Medical Receptionist certificate and/or certificate or diploma in Office Administration
  • Minimum two years work experience in related Medical Administrative field
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Class 5 Drivers License and reliable transportation
  • Must have or obtain within 6 months of hire, First Aid/CPR certification
  • Must have TDG and WHMIS certification
