is looking for an _experienced and hardworking _
Base Foreman/Forewoman for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area.

Responsibilities:


  • Supervise a crew of 515 equipment operators, grades personnel, and labourers performing base works support for subdivisions, commercial surface work, road building, and various projects
  • Ensure labour, equipment, materials and subcontractors are on site when necessary
  • Ensure that the construction crews or subcontractors perform work in accordance to contract drawings and specifications
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and labour are utilized efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure that deliveries to site are complete and in accordance with materials order
  • Perform subgrade prep, mixing, and base prep for concrete/paving operations
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings and inspections
  • Ensures all employees are working in accordance with company and other governing safe work policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all equipment that is not functioning properly is properly reported
  • Ensure that all open excavation, manholes, etc., are adequately barricaded as per OHS Standards
  • Provide training and advice to labourers and grades personal
  • Interface with the client and other contractors on site
  • Ensure the safety of the crew, equipment, and environment
  • Ensure that work is completed to schedule
  • Manage timesheets for team members on a daily basis

Qualifications:


  • Must have at least 5 years' previous experience supervising base works crews on utility, commercial surface works, and road building projects
  • Experience as a Lead Hand or Foreman with a solid understanding of all aspects of civil works especially Base Works
  • Ability to read blueprints, including architectural, structural, and civil drawings, manage timesheets, track and report daily job productions, job coding
  • Be safety orientated, selfmotivated and work well with others
  • Ability to handle difficult issues in a positive way
  • Must have established leadership/mentoring skills
  • Must have a good knowledge of the City and surrounding areas
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean driver abstract
  • Above average computer skills needed
  • Be willing to work long hours (overtime during busy seasons) in varying weather conditions

Experience:

Civil Construction: 5 years (required)

  • Lead Hand or Forman: 5 years (preferred)
- utility, commercial surface works and road building projects: 3 years (preferred)
- supervising Base Works crews: 5 years (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence & CLEAN 3 Year Driver's Abstract (required)
