What we are looking for:


The Technical Specialist will report to the Team Leader, CRS and maintains constant communication and collaboration to ensure maintenance of a safe, productive and high quality PFT Lab.

The Technical Specialist is a Pulmonary Function Technologist with strong technical, administrative and leadership skills.

In addition to regular duties and responsibilities of a PF Technologist, the TS is responsible for the overall technical quality of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory.

The Technical Specialist is responsible for ensuring excellent diagnostic quality in the laboratory as well as safe professional practice, staff training and competency, equipment performance and maintenance, quality control and inventory control.

This position plays an important role in achieving excellence in client (physician and patient) and staff satisfaction.

This role is also required to stay up to date on the latest technical and legislative advancements pertaining to the specific department as well as maintaining current PFT protocols and policies.

It is expected that this individual spends 90% of their time as a technologist and 10% of their time dedicated to the responsibilities of this role.


As part of the interprofessional care team, the Pulmonary Function Technologist plays an essential role in providing quality patient and family centered care.

The Technologist is responsible for working in a team environment to perform various pulmonary function tests in an accurate, efficient and professional manner.

What you bring to the role:

  • Current registration and in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists
  • Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (member in good standing of the Canadian Association of Cardiopulmonary Technologists) an asset
  • Certificate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
  • Experience in a leadership role or evidence of education related to Leadership
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Pulmonary Function Technologist
  • Body Box experience is required
  • Previous experience in pediatric testing and pulmonary function, methacholine, exercise induced asthma, arterial blood gases: exercise oximetry for home oxygen will be considered an asset
  • Proven clinical experience with patientfocused care, including strong patient assessment, care planning, patient education and documentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Experience working with electronic medical records and an electronic data management system
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

Compensation:


Band L:
$ $47.18 per hour
$75,660 - $92,001 per year
