Position Overview


The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for reviewing time entry through the company ERP (PSA), tracking of absences, and preparation of hours & earnings to be submitted to payroll.

To be successful as a payroll clerk you must be comfortable working with numbers and communicating with other departments. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to multi-task and a can-do attitude are all key.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verify employee time entries in PSA
  • Communicate with department managers on missing hours
  • Communicate with departments to clarify information related to employee hours
  • Support vacation coverage when Payroll Manager is away or there is overflow work due to high volume
  • Process terminations, generate record of employment, and complete timely payroll tasks when Payroll Manager is unavailable
  • Participate in projects as needed

Requirements:


  • 1+ year experience in payroll and/or human resources
  • Experience with UKG (UltiPro/Ultimate Kronos Group) or other benefit/payroll software is considered an asset
  • Experience with Dynamics or PSA is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Understanding of payroll timelines, practices, and employment laws as they relate to pay
  • Post secondary education in human resources, payroll, accounting, or related field an asset
  • Proactive mindset and desire to provide exceptional internal customer service
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate professionally and efficiently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and follow through
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality

Working Conditions:


  • Office or hybridbased role
  • Working in front of a computer and on the phone regularly
  • Must be available on biweekly pay Mondays
