How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:


Major Responsibilities:


Perform the following tasks under general supervision:

  • Assist Crew Leads with the implementation of meadow restoration and invasive species management within The Meadoway.
  • Assist with operation and maintenance of equipment, including tractors, zero turn mowers, trucks, implements and power hand tools.
  • Perform daily vehicle and equipment safety checks to ensure safe operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.


All activities are expected to be performed in a safe manner, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, along with Corporate Safety policies, procedures and programs.

In addition, all necessary personal protective equipment must be used and maintained in good condition.


What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

  • Postsecondary education in biology, environmental science, resource management or a related field and pursuing a career in environmental or related field.
Experience

  • Experience related to major tasks an asset.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • Understanding of farm and construction equipment, including operation of small tools and larger machinery.
  • Familiarity with mapping natural landscape features and reading maps;
  • Awareness of meadow restoration techniques and processes.
  • Knowledge of herbicide legislation and invasive species management practices
  • Pesticide applicator license an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of native and invasive plants and plant identification skills.
  • Ability and aptitude to work outdoor in adverse conditions.
  • Good physical fitness required for carrying equipment for extended durations.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Mechanical knowledge an asset.
  • Standard First Aid an asset.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
  • Valid G Ontario driver's license Class A (R) license / trailer experience an asset.
