Position Overview:
We are seeking a diligent and detail oriented Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team.

In this role you will provide professional and timely support to assist in the coordination of Finning's Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System within the Operations.

This position allows you to partner with many different areas of the business and has a strong focus on continuous improvement.


Job Description:

Communication

  • Coordinate and share important/relevant topics for safety/toolbox meetings.
  • Gather and communicate compliance material, including new requirements, updates, etc.
  • Monitor and report on important topics, identified gaps, and feedback.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate information on safety boards.
Collaboration

  • Support in completing or ensuring completion of documents for inspections, meetings, and other activities.
  • Support in establishing and coordinating Joint Health & Safety Committees, including document retention and scheduling.
  • Assist with EH&Srelated information and attend branch monthly leadership meetings.
  • Store and maintain all documentation records.
  • Prepare, schedule, guide operations, and follow up on training, inspections, meetings, activity groups, communications, etc.
Assurance

  • Ensure completion of all assurance activity requirements, such as leadership walkthroughs, hazard submissions, corrective and preventative actions, inspections, etc.
  • Manage completion of actions and provide coaching support as needed.
  • Share learnings, successes, and positive acts.
  • Coordinate internal/external audit requirements, including documentation, interview, and observation schedules.
Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintain branch emergency response plans.
  • Schedule, perform and document drills and exercises.
  • Communicate updates, outcomes and drill/exercise status.
Incident Management and Injury Reduction

  • Analyze and record incidents, trends and metrics utilizing reporting and dashboard analytic tools.
  • Monitor open/closed incident investigations and follow up as needed to obtain quality information and timely closure.
  • Maintain branch visual standards and management (consistent approach across region, upkeep, transition between campaign changes)
  • Distribute injury reduction campaign materials.
Orientation and Training

  • Schedule required EH&S training for operations.
  • Track and manage training schedules and compliance using training matrix/learning management tool.
  • Report on challenges, compliance, and effectiveness.
  • Administer contractor orientations via online program.
Other

  • Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) online and ensure required SDS's for region are uploaded and available.
  • Develop performance reports using dashboard analytic tools.
  • Provide feedback on EH&S controlled management system documents (new development, updates, etc.).
  • Assist in the development of programs, training materials, etc.
  • Coordinate meetings (agenda and presentation preparation, minute taking, facility booking, catering) and perform other administrative duties.
  • Manage safety supplies.
  • File paperwork.
  • Support in creating EH&S related purchase orders, cheque requests, JV's, and any other accounting related tasks

Education & Experience:

  • 35 years office administration
  • 13 years environment, health and safety experience
  • Formal postsecondary education in occupational health and safety or related field (degree, diploma, certificate) would be an asset
  • Experience supporting EH&S management system elements and improvements
  • Related industry safety experience
