About us:


Your opportunity:


Based within the Innovations and Partnerships team, you will support faculty members and academic administrators in the administration of research grants and the review of non-funded agreements, as well as MITACs proposals and agreements.

The RPAfollows established business processes within the Innovations & Partnerships Office (IPO) that support the administration of research proposals and account setup, exchanges information with external partners, and ensures template agreements are in place with external partners for non-funded agreements and MITACs grants.

The RPA is required to set-up restricted research funds according to agreed upon sponsor terms and conditions and follows business protocols established within the division of the Vice President, Research and Innovation (VPRI) for research account administration including releasing or holding funds according to internal and external compliance requirements.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Settling the terms of research funding agreements
  • Acting as the primary contact for enquiries pertaining to funding opportunities as well as pre and post award matters
  • Overseeing the establishment and release of research funds
  • Verifying research funding proposals are complete, accurate and adhere to Sponsor guidelines and University policies and guidelines
  • Analyzing and recommending research agreements for institutional signoff
  • Advising on pre and post award research administration providingoptions and solutions

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years' relevant experience in research administration in an Academic or Health Care setting or comparable environment
  • Experience with pre and post award administration or equivalent
  • Strong computer skills including ability to work with a broad range of internal and external information system tools and electronic processing systems including spreadsheets, databases, and sponsorbased electronic systems
  • Excellent attention to detail; strong administrative and records management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong level of client/customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate timely flow of information with regards research agreements
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Assets (Nonessential):


  • Prior experience working with Federal Granting Agency (i.e Tri-Council /Mitacs) and private sector partners
